Little Girl legacy

With one of the found objects, a skipping rope, I thought about making it into a snail coil. Then I kept collecting all of the little pieces of plastic and then came up with the idea that the snail was giving off a residue off plastic.

So much pink! This is an experiment that I’ve come up with it’s not resolved.

I think I’m going to try and find a children’s draw with stickers all over it on cleanup site (which I see all the time) and see if I can assemble it in that.

The main photos for this one of been taken on my Canon but I’m quite happy with the concept.

Little Boy legacy

After creating the snail and all of the pink plastic on the little girl, I was constantly thinking about little boys as well. Because it’s about children’s impact and plastic.

So the idea that I’ve come up with for boys is making the shape of a gun and doing the same with my found objects but in Blues instead of pink’s.

For the backgrounds I was thinking of plain colour because of all the plastic that I’m using I don’t want the chosen items to get hidden. So something along the lines of white or yellow fake plastic /fake leather. Something super shiny but something that will contrast all of the little bits and pieces.

Because I’m using the title legacy and because of how we associate boys and girls the use of the colours pink and blue are on purpose. we have to change very deep seated habits regarding the use of plastic and the way we look at boys and girls.

I think it is a bad legacy I think it’s important that it changes, that we stop putting girls in categories of pretty pink plastic things and boys of destruction and war and blue. Being a twin that happened to me quite often as I was growing up.

For the background I was thinking I either a tartan shirt for army green or just plastic black maybe for the boy.

I’ll be looking for a draw with boys stickers on it hopefully cobalt blue or white but definitely children’s drawing I see them all the time.

If not I have a musical instruments lid that I found that I can use because it’s a bit longer.
